چکیده
In articular cartilage tissue engineering (ACTE) experimentation, the researchers have utilised cells and tissues sampled from human donor for research purposes. The may be harvested living donor’s discarded through a medical procedure, e.g. total knee replacement surgery. small pieces of sample taken are essential to study regeneration treating joint disease, i.e. osteoarthritis. However, procedure has raised some ethical fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence) concerns. was done by utilising secondary analysis local Muslim jurists’ opinions (fatwā) related sampling biological samples. This paper explores scenarios using cell sources existing fatwā jurists (fuqahā`). include: (1) taking samples donor, (2) discarding tissue, as practised in ACTE experimentation. current shown that honouring every part body is considered Islam. utilise donors alternatives studying regeneration. donation purposes obtained permissible, should stipulated terms conditions were observed, does not cause any additional harm donor.

Cartilage tissue engineering using pre-aggregated human articular chondrocytes.
In this study, we first aimed at determining whether human articular chondrocytes (HAC) proliferate in aggregates in the presence of strong chondrocyte mitogens. We then investigated if the aggregated cells have an enhanced chondrogenic capacity as compared to cells cultured in monolayer. HAC from four donors were cultured in tissue culture dishes either untreated or coated with 1% agarose in t...
متن کاملbovine articular cartilage decellularized matrix as a scaffold for use in cartilage tissue engineering
extracelllar matrix (ecm) materials from mammalian tissues have been broadly used for tissue engineering for animal models. while decellularization of tissues such as bladder, heart valve, knee meniscus and tendon has been performed, there are a few reports for articular cartilage. in this study we aimed to develop a technique to decellularize bovine articular cartilage as a biological construc...
متن کاملTissue Engineering of Articular Cartilage: Perichondrial Cells in Osteochondral Repair
Efforts to expand treatment options for articular cartilage repair have increasingly focused on the implantation of cell polymer constructs. Primary cells cultured from perichondrium, a chondrogenic tissue, were found to survive in vitro within a biodegradable porous polylactic acid matrix. These perichondrocyte-polylactic acid composite grafts were then implanted within osteochondral defects d...
متن کاملImportance of Floating Chondrons in Cartilage Tissue Engineering
BACKGROUND Dedifferentiation of chondrocytes remains a major problem for cartilage tissue engineering. Chondrocytes loss differentiated phenotype in in vitro culture that is undesired for repair strategies. The chondrocyte is surrounded by a pericellular matrix (PCM), together forming the chondron. PCM has a positive effect on the maintenance of chondrocyte phenotype during culture in compar...
متن کاملOptimization of Parameters for Articular Cartilage Tissue Engineering Withdeformational Loading
INTRODUCTION Using functional tissue engineering approaches, a number of culture systems have been developed that incorporate physiologic mechanical signals to foster tissue development (1,2). Short-term studies demonstrate that dynamic deformational loading increases matrix biosynthesis in chondrocyte-seeded agarose hydrogels (3,4). In long term studies, daily dynamic deformational loading (1H...
